Vision 2010

Dear Potential Team Leader for 2010:

We had an unbelievable 2009! The testimonies of our 2009 teams who have served with us in previous years is that our ministry is more strategic, our staff more passionate, and the fruits of their labors more evident!

Our ministry partners testify to this as well! El Ayudante’s relationships with MINSA (Ministry of Health), National Police, Community Movement, City of León, Ministry of Education, target community leaders and the Ministry of the Family are stronger than ever!

We have found our way to the cutting edge with God! To remain there, we must continually assess/evaluate what we do to confirm God’s Presence! We do this because we are not interested in doing a good work, but His Work which brings change and opportunities for influence!

We have become agents of change! Without seeking it, we have gained great influence in Northern Nicaragua! What do we do with this influence? What will our ministry look like in 2010?

El Ayudante’s Child Protection Center, HCN
Mission teams will continue to integrate into our holistic approach to child development by providing educational, social, recreational, and spiritual growth opportunities in small group settings. Interaction with the children in small groups has proven most effective while facilitating each child’s need for one on one interaction.
New opportunities to serve at HCN include construction of homes for some children placed in our center solely for the reason of the extreme poverty of their families. Construction of these homes provides opportunities for children to return to their families each evening after school and dinner as well as on weekends. Mission teams are also providing financial resource to help these families establish small businesses.

In 2009, HCN was recognized by the Ministry of the Family for our “leadership and assistance” to other child protection centers in Nicaragua at a ceremony in Leon attended by local and national leaders.  HCN continues to be acknowledged by government as a model for child development.

El Ayudante Clinic/Medical
Our clinic has allowed us to provide medical attention to the Ministry of Health’s greatest priority, health of women who have very few resources and difficult access to health care. The El Ayudante Clinic integrates with our overall strategy to bring continuing care to our target communities and to areas of concern of our strategic partners.

Medical and non-medical teams alike are encouraged to bring in medicines/supplies for use in the El Ayudante Clinic, distribution to public clinics, and use by our medical teams who serve throughout the Department of Leon. Opportunities are available for visiting medical personnel to conduct seminars with medical students and public health officials.

Target Communities
With the understanding that the Gospel is the answer to every question in community, mission teams will aggressively serve beside community leaders to make their visions for their communities become a reality. Mission teams will address health care, education, spiritual, and facility needs coordinated in a way that will bring change to our target communities of La Majada, Carlos Fonseca, William Fonseca (Platanal), and Ruben Dario. Cultivating relationships in these communities will continue to be a priority.

Strategic Partnerships
Our contract with the Nicaraguan Government through its Foreign Relations Department allows us great privilege and access! Important in this relationship is our understanding that we are under authority. When we serve in communities in the area of health care, we seek counsel/ guidance from the Ministry of Health (MINSA.) MINSA directs our medical teams to communities with the greatest need while sending their doctors in support of our teams! Service opportunities in schools are guided by the Ministry of Education while service to at-risk children is overseen by the Ministry of the Family.

Our partnership with the National Police provides opportunities for service to the 450 officers of the Department of Leon and their families. Our convenios with the City of León and Community Movement make us more effective in our ministry! We will continue these relationships in 2010 through continued cooperation!

El Ayudante is committed to excellence and we look forward to serving with you in 2010 to bring change to Nicaragua!

Your friend,
Bill
