Overview of El Ayudante’s medical mission
El Ayudante is an inter-denominational, Christian ministry which is partnering with the Nicaraguan people to transform their nation by providing humanitarian and spiritual aid. The Nicaraguan health care system does not have the resources to adequately provide for the needs of many. Most communities in remote areas do not have ready access to a health care facility. The poor do not have the financial resources to pay for diagnostic tests and medicines. The public health care system does not have the budget to adequately maintain their hospitals and clinics, nor do they have the resources to purchase needed equipment.
El Ayudante’s medical mission is to facilitate the equipping of the public health care system and to provide treatment to thousands. El Ayudante supports missionary medical teams as follows:
- coordinates short term clinics in communities that do not have ready access to health care,
- facilitates the work of surgical teams and biomedical engineers in the hospitals,
- facilitates the importation of medicines that medical teams and surgeons bring with them,
- coordinates training of health care professionals,
- operates a specialty medical clinic on El Ayudante’s property in Leon,
- facilitates the construction of improvements to facilities in clinics and hospitals, and
- facilitates the importation of medical equipment and supplies for use in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and nutrition centers.
